Shoes Every Woman Should Have in Her Closet – Lots of women have a passionate relationship with shoes, but some people limit their selection to just a few shoe types. What shoes you have in your closet will depend on your local climate, as well as availability and types of retailers, of course. Thanks to Internet shopping, however, it’s now easier than ever to ensure that your closet isn’t missing any of the following essential shoe types.
Table of Contents
1. Ankle Boots
Some people hear “boots” and immediately start thinking of the outdoors, or perhaps knee-high boots that only very “leggy” models would wear. Here we are talking about timeless, stylish ankle boots. Classic ankle boots are a great addition to any wardrobe, chiefly because they are so versatile and can be paired with just about any style of outfit, casual or formal.
Ankle boots are more diverse than you could know, offering different materials, colours, heel heights, a choice of laced or unlaced. What’s more, they’re sturdier than a lot of typical women’s shoes, offering better comfort and foot support, which can be critical if you spend any time wearing stilettos or other high-heeled shoes at other times.
2. Loafers
Another “classic” choice is a pair of loafers. Like ankle boots, loafers can be paired with both casual and formal outfits. On top of that, they are irresistibly comfortable, and so easy for the woman on the go who has no time for laces. The comfortable, hugging fit of a pair of loafers provides support and relief from a life in heels. They also come in every style from simple, classic black or brown leather, to leopard print, suede, and just about every other way you can imagine.
3. Sandals
If you live in Siberia or an Antarctic research station, then you’d be forgiven for not necessarily owning a pair of sandals. For everyone else, however, a pair of slide sandals are a must-have! You can just slip them on without any thought, enjoying the same relaxed feeling as you get wearing a pair of flip flops, while at the same time exhibiting some serious style and fashion sense.
4. Heels
Now, when we say that every woman should have a pair of heels in the closet, we don’t necessarily mean uncomfortable super-high stiletto heels. The size and style of the heel are absolutely up to you, but heels are so perfect to wear to special occasions, it’s always worth having at least one pair.
You can of course get a good heel on a pair of ankle boots, but a more standard “neutral” style of heeled shoe is a further addition for those times when you think that boots don’t look or feel quite right. The heeled shoe has more refinement and great elegance.
5. Strappy Sandals
Just as the heeled shoe is a more graceful and elegant upgrade of the heeled ankle boot, the strappy sandal is the elevated version of the regular slide sandal. The strappy sandal adds a heel, and the straps are usually more intricately designed and invariably include an ankle strap too that makes them into a more secure-fitting shoe.
When you want the feel of a sandal but at the most formal occasion and when it’s not vacation time, then the strappy sandal is the way to go.
Shop for Yourself, Not Just Fashion
Whatever shoes you like to keep in your closet, make sure that they are a reflection of you and not just an empty fashion statement. Comfort comes first, and whether you buy ankle boots, loafers, slide sandals, heels or strappy sandals, favour a good fit over a big name.
